The lyrics

I'll leave it up to each listener to interpret the meaning of the lyrics. However, I feel the need to point out that despite of the song's title, this is not a traditional love song. Still, the ways and sidesteps of love are endless and individual. The search for love and acceptance, and the liberation from suppressed feelings and thoughts thereof, may be possible building blocks in some interpretations.

And yes, there are lots of more possibilities, especially when combining what at first might seem like conflicting messages in the chorus and the verses. Life is complex.

Song background

I wrote and recorded only one song during the whole of 2009. This is the one! The reason for my minimal production this year can be blamed on a well intended plan to redecorate a room in the house to become my new studio. Due to this, all my music gear was packed away in boxes and cases while the months quickly passed by and time was consumed by whatever else.

It wasn't until late December I realized that I hadn't made ANY music for more than a year (except for several more or less half-defined new melodies in my head). Taking under consideration that I in general have been pretty productive the last few years, I felt this was an unacceptable situation that needed to be adressed.

Instruments and recording

I played all the instruments (synths, drum programming, el-guitar) and did all the vocal tracks for this song. For the first time ever I used no physical synthesizers, but only VST synths and modules with the midi controller CME UF5 connected to my studio computer. For this song, I used FM7, Trilogy, A1, Wavestation, Groove Agent and KORG MS-20. I also played a Fender Stratocaster el-guitar with a Boss GT-6 guitar processor and the Peavey Bandit guitar amplifier. Recording and mixing software: Cubase SX with various Waves plugins and effects. Recording of vocals and el-guitar was done with the RØDE NT2 condensor microphone.
